What is a GST invoice?

A GST invoice is a tax invoice required under Indian GST law for B2B and B2C supplies. It must include supplier and recipient details, GSTINs, HSN/SAC codes, taxable value, and the GST charged split into CGST, SGST, or IGST.

What is the difference between CGST, SGST, and IGST?

For intra-state supplies (seller and buyer in the same state), GST is split equally into CGST (Central GST) and SGST (State GST). For inter-state supplies (different states), IGST (Integrated GST) is charged at the full rate.

Is GSTIN mandatory on invoices?

For B2B transactions, GSTIN of both the supplier and recipient is mandatory on the tax invoice. For B2C transactions below the invoice value threshold, the recipient's GSTIN may not be required.

What is an HSN code?

HSN (Harmonized System of Nomenclature) code is a 4-8 digit code used to classify goods, while SAC (Services Accounting Code) classifies services. These codes must be shown on GST invoices for goods/services above certain value thresholds.

Can I download the GST invoice as PDF?

Yes! Our GST invoice generator lets you print or download your tax invoice as a PDF directly from your browser. Free users get a small watermark; Pro users get clean, branded invoices.

Is the GST invoice legally valid?

A GST invoice generated with correct details (GSTIN, HSN/SAC, tax breakdown) is legally valid for claiming input tax credit and for GST filing. We recommend confirming your details before issuing.

When is GST registration required?

GST registration is mandatory for businesses with turnover above ₹20 lakh (₹10 lakh for special category states), and for inter-state suppliers, e-commerce operators, and certain other categories regardless of turnover.
